MDI Brings in Industry Knowledge, Hibbing Representation With New Board Members
Jill Hesselroth of Intek Plastics and Dr. Michael Raich of Hibbing Community College. Hesselroth brings a deep manufacturing expertise to the board. Raich’s experience boosts MDI ties to Hibbing, Minnesota, and increases the organizations’ workforce development knowledge. MDI runs corrugated, plastic-manufacturing operations offering standard- and custom-packaging solutions, production services and environmental services in the Twin Cities, Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Cohasset.
“Jill brings a wealth of business and lean manufacturing experience to the MDI board, and Mike’s higher education experience supports our workforce development efforts,” stated Peter McDermott, president and CEO of MDI. “We are pleased to have both joined our board. Hesselroth has served as CEO of Intek Plastics since April 2015 where she has led the company’s expansion into new markets. Prior to joining Intek, Hesselroth held positions of increasing responsibility in supply-chain management, operations, IT, quality and business leadership at Gillette, St. Jude Medical, Andersen Corporation, Zimmer and Nortech Systems. She has supported Habitat for Humanity on numerous builds, and the Salvation Army as a past Red Kettle Campaign chairperson and current campaign volunteer. Hesselroth holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota, and certifications from the University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering in lean systems, and Stanford University’s Executive Education program. She is also certified in production and inventory management, and project management. Hesselroth has two sons and daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren. She lives in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Raich has served as provost of Hibbing Community College since 2015. Preceding this role, he served as interim provost at Itasca Community College, and as dean of academic and student affairs at Hibbing Community College. He is the current chair of the Fairview Range Medical Center Board of Directors and serves on the executive board of the Hibbing Community Foundation. Raich earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth; a master’s degree from St. Cloud State University; and a doctoral degree from the University of North Dakota. He and his wife Carol have two daughters and live in Hibbing.
