It takes courage, bravery and a little bit of crazy to be a Polar Plunger. Plungers put it all on the line as they jump to frozen glory to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN).
On February 28, sixty four individuals from MDI, Medtronic and Special Olympics joined forces to raise over $52,294; $5,191 of which was raised by MDI employees and fifty percent of those funds were given back to MDI.
Participants took the plunge into BDE MAKA SKA to support the cause of ‘Unified Work’. The group is a coalition of like-minded Twin Cities organizations intent on advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Long-term goals include:
- Creating a sustainable employment model (based on real life working examples)
- Assisting businesses with hiring & supporting people with disabilities
The Unified Work group includes leaders from a variety of businesses and the non-profit sector who have a strong desire to drive and support sustainable organizational changes that proactively engage, hire, and support people with disabilities.
